Description:
Dinosaur State Park is the site of a discovery of 2,000 early Jurassic dinosaur footprints. 500 footprints are on display inside the the museum. These footprints are 200 million years old. The park also features a bookshop, an auditorium where dinosaur related films are shown, a classroom, 2 1/2 miles of hiking trails and a unique track casting area (seasonal).
Important Information:
The outdoor areas of Dinosaur State Park, including the trails, are open daily from 9am to 30 minutes before sunset. The indoor Exhibit Center is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 am to 4:30 pm, and is closed on Mondays. The Exhibit Center is open on all holidays, with the exception of holidays that fall on Mondays and Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The track casting area is a seasonal activity open from May 1- October 31st between the hours of 9am to 3:30pm. Visitors must bring their own materials to make a cast. Getting There:
Dinosaur State Park is located one mile east of I-91 off exit 23. If you are coming from the New Haven area take a right off the exit and the park will be about 1 mile down the road on the right. Visitors coming from the Hartford area should make a left off the exit and the park will be on their right one mile down the road.
