The bluffs overlooking the Connecticut River give this park a perspective that is unique among others in the state park system.
River Highlands State Park is lush with mixed woodlands and hilly topography which ranges from an elevantion of about 15' above sea level to 150' at the northern and southern high spots on the bluffs.
There are many trails in the park, leading hikers across wooden bridges, over streams, along the 150 foot high bluff, or to the water's edge past a unique geological feature known as the "blowhole." One can sometimes hear the wind as it whistles past the bluff.
